The Swiss Vreneli Gold Coin is one of Switzerland's most famous gold bullion coins, cherished by collectors and investors for its historical value and aesthetic appeal. Years Released: Primarily minted from 1897 to 1936, with a commemorative issue released in 1947.

Legal Tender Value: The Vreneli has a face value of 20 Francs. The half-Vreneli has a face value of 10 Francs. 

Sizes Available: The (20 Franc) Vreneli coin is 5.8 grams. The (10 gram) half-Vreneli is 2.9 grams. 

Mintage: The series has an estimated mintage of over 58 million coins throughout its production years, making it widely available yet historically significant. The coin is no longer produced.

Coin Dimensions and Specification: Each Vreneli coin weighs 6.4516 grams and is made from 90% gold, containing 0.1867 troy ounces of pure gold. The diameter of the coin is 21 mm, and it features a thickness of approximately 1.25 mm.

Coin Design: 

Obverse: The obverse of the Vreneli coin features the bust of a Swiss maiden, Vreneli, with her hair braided against a background of the Swiss Alps, symbolizing Switzerland’s pristine natural landscapes and cultural beauty. This design is complemented by the inscription "HELVETIA," which refers to the Latin name of Switzerland.

Reverse: The reverse shows the Swiss shield tied with branches of oak along with the value (20 FR) and the year of minting. This side reinforces the themes of strength and enduring stability.

There are no major variations in the design of the standard Vreneli coins; however, the 1947 issue was a commemorative release and is distinguishable mainly by its minting year.
