Design of the 2022 silver Tiger coin
The 2 Oz Silver Lunar Tiger Coin issued by the Perth Mint features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the front. This is standard of all legal currency in Australia. At the top of the coin is inscribed 'Elizabeth II' and 'Australia' The bottom of each coin features its weight, purity, metal type, and face value. These read '2 Oz, 999, Ag, 2 Dollars. Each coin has a legal tender value of $2 AUD, which means that the government of Australia has guaranteed to back that coin to that value.
Each coin features an image of a Tiger with her cub on the reverse. The Tiger symbolizes bravery and strength and is considered a symbol of leadership. However, Tigers are also seen to be protectors of children, as is depicted in this image. At the top of each coin is inscribed 'Tiger' and '2022'. This is considered to be a lucky year to be born in according to the Chinese Lunar Calendar.
