The design of the 2024 American Eagle Silver Coin honours America's heritage.
The obverse of the coin features the a Walking Liberty image that was originally designed by Adolph A. Weinman, depicting Lady Liberty with the American flag draped around her and the sun rising over a ridge. Each 1 ounce silver American Eagle coin has a face value of 1 USD, reinforcing its status as legal tender.
The reverse of the coin features a Bald Eagle with a shield, designed by John Mercanti. The eagle grasps an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other, symbolizing peace and strength. Inscribed around the eagle are the coin's weight, fineness, and the phrase "United States of America." Each American Eagle coin is minted to a fineness of 999.
The United States Mint also produces the American Eagle series in gold and platinum. The Eagle series has been released in palladium, however, this is occasional. The American Eagle Silver Coin is particularly prized by investors and collectors for its legal tender status and renowned design.
